This is the first picture I saw online after hearing the news of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Notice the tree line.
This is before the wave swept out all of those homes, all of those cars, and all of the people.
The people that we cannot see that were in their homes.
The people that we can see.
Do you notice what I think I see?
Two people, running on top of the roof?
The roof on top of the white house.
My heart dropped when I saw this.
I thought maybe they had a chance.
And maybe they did.
But I was thinking and praying for those two people that I could see on the roof.
Were they believers?
Did they live their lives for Christ?
Did they think about Him as they saw that wave coming?
Did they fear?
Did they have total peace, knowing that their heavenly father would carry them to heaven?
It is quite possible that they had a peace that passes all understanding, a peace that only comes from our sweet Father when we believe in Him. (Phil 4:7).
I cannot know.
I don't know.
All I do know is that I am here on earth, for today, with a reason and a purpose. (Esther 4:14, Jeremiah 29:11). As are you.

Just now I was going to share a passage with you, Psalm 84:2. When I went to look it up on Bible Gateway, using keyword search you know what came up. The verse below:

Isaiah 26:9
My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.

God, I pray right now for Japan and for the rest of the world. The world, your creation. God, I pray that you would heal the troubled hearts of the people who are still alive on this earth. I pray for the people of Japan who have a loved one missing, who have loved ones deceased. God, my brain cannot fathom what that country is going through right now. What I do know Lord, is that you hear their cries. You hear the cries of your people. Lord, I pray that they would come to know you. That they could put their trust in you. That they would find their hope in you alone. That they would know that you are their Father who loves them. Lord, I pray that in the midst of the chaos, sadness, sorrow, mourning, craziness, aftermath, pick up, finding of people, losing of people, hurt, pain & confusion. That your sons and daughters would find you and come home to you. Lord, I pray for all of the people right now in Japan who are trapped under the rubble. Trapped somewhere in their home that was swept away, trapped under their home that was hit by a mudslide. Trapped in a place where no one will find them. Lord, I pray that they would find a peace, knowing that you are there ready to hold them in your arms and wipe all their tears away. God, you hear the cries. Thank you that you hear the cries, that you listen to our cries, that you wipe our tears away and give us joy that can only be found in you. Amen.
